Advanced Order Management, What is It Truly?

To state that there are many order management systems (OMS) available in the world, would be an understatement. Yet, not all systems are built equally well. It takes diligence, an intense focus on retailer needs, and a zeal for depth and quality to get it right. Even more interesting is that several vendors make claims about being advanced order management systems, without clear substantiation. Definitely a noteworthy and important point. In fact we at OrderDynamics consider our OMS / DOM (Distributed Order Management) to be the most advanced out-of-the-box system currently available. If you are asking why, or quietly uttering “prove it!” then read on.

Not all Order Mgt systems are built equally well, with diligence, intelligence and a high focus on quality. What truly makes an advance order management system, and why would a retailer need one? By just stating that a system is advanced – should you as a retailer believe it? If OrderDynamics states that our system is the most advanced – don’t accept this at face value either. Rather, let’s take a journey to look at various different parts of a system that define advanced technology, and how it can improve your retail operation.

Why is Advanced Order Management Important?

You already know that several technology vendors care about being perceived as offering the most advanced order management system. Most will tell extol that theirs is the most advanced system. Perhaps the pitch is that a system is the core of their unified commerce solution. But beyond needing just the OMS, you need all the parts that particular vendor supplies. Convenient. Or maybe advanced is equivalent to having the most beautiful graphical user interface, with the latest look and feel. Perhaps, instead it is that their system was developed by that same people that brought the world the biggest database, or most awards won by an AI, or some other such pitch. Will you buy that?
